Celebrations of pongal festval:
The Tamil community holds a harvest festival called Pongal. It is a celebration to express gratitude to the Sun, Mother Nature, and a variety of farm animals for their contributions to a successful harvest.
which lasts for four days and also signals the beginning of Thai, the Tamil month. which is considered an auspicious month.
Stages of pongal Festival:
- The Bhogi festival is celebrated on the first day of Pongal,l;
- the Second Thai Pongal;
- the Third Mattu Pongal; the
- Fourth day is called Kaanum Pongal.
Meaning of Pongal:
The dish that is prepared and consumed during this festival is also referred to as “pongal.” It is a mixture of boiled sweet rice. The Tamil word pongu, which means “to boil over,” is derived word.
