Network Switch
Switch:
A Network Switch is a device that provides are Central connection point for cables from where stations, servers and peripherals are connected. In a star topology twisted pair wire is runs from each workstation to a Centre switch/ hub.
Most switches are active that is they electrically amplify the signal as it move from one device to another.
Switch are:
- Usually configured with it 24 RJ 45 port.
- Often used in a star topology.
- Switch or also called hub.
Features of switches:
- Switch uses MAC address to forward data at the data link layer.
- Switch operate in a layer i.e data link layer of the OSI model.
- Switch uses make address to transfer data.
- Switch uses packet switching technique to receive and forward data packets from source to destination.
- Switch uses full duplex transmission mode

Types of switches:
There are four types of switch:
1) Unmanaged Switch:
Unmanaged switch are simple to connect and easy to manage. They can be set up by simply plug into the network after which they start operating.
2) Manage Switch:
Manage Switch, which are costlier switch, this are used in organization with large and complex network .it provide quality of service (QoS) like high security level, better Precision control and complete network management.
3) LAN Switch:
Local area Network Switch connect device in the internal lan of an organization.
4) (PoE) Power over Ethernet switch:
Power over Ethernet switch are used in PoE Gigabit Ethernet. Poe technology combine the data and power transmission over the same cable so that device connect to its kind receive both electrical as well as data same line.
