Computer Organization: Input output ports

Input-output ports: Input-output ports are the port or area in a system from where a system can communicate with exterior elements or other systems.

Input output ports are:

Serial port:

Serial port also called as RS 232 represent the first interface to allow the computer to exchange information with the outside world
Serial ports are originally able to only send data and not received. hence two-way ports were developed
