HISTORY OF JANMASHTAMI | STORY
In Mathura, there was a ruler named Kans who was notorious for his voracity and out of line rule. After the wedding of his sister Devaki to Vasudev, a prophetic voice from above announced, “Kans, your tyranny goes to return to an end.
The eighth child destined to Devaki and Vasudev will execute you.”This angered Kans and he imprisoned the newlyweds. Kans proceeded to slaughter 7 of Devaki’s youngsters.
At the point when she brought forth her eighth kid, the prophetic voice returned, and stated, “Take the child over the stream Yamuna to Gokul and exchange him alongside your friends Nand’sand Yashoda’s newly born daughter.”
Vasudev looked right down to realize, his hands had been unchained. He quickly picked up his child and put him during a basket, arriving at the gates to find them opened on their own and therefore the guards asleep. As he crossed the turbulent stream, the container upon his head, the water never rose above his shoulders. When he struggled, a ten-headed snake seemed to protect the kid from the pouring rain. Vasudev at this point had understood that his kid was a heavenly being. At Nand’s house, Vasudev switched the youngsters and returned to the prison.
When Kans arrived and tried to harm the kid, it took the shape of Goddess Durga and said“ The 8th child, who goes to finish your reign of terror, has been born and can fulfill his prophecy.” The child, Krishna, was raised by Yashoda and went on to kill Kans.
So, per annum, we celebrate the birth of Krishna, also referred to as Janmashtami, across India.
